Young leaders from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School District have the opportunity to complete their applications for the Outstanding Young Leaders (OYL) Scholarship each spring. At the Outstanding Young Leader Scholarship and Awards Reception, all nominees will receive an official certificate of achievement with their name on it to keep. The scholarship winners will receive an additional official certificate denoting the amount of their scholarship.
The chapter presents several scholarships at the event, the number of scholarships and their amount will be dependent upon the success of the project’s fundraising efforts. The Winston-Salem chapter will send the top five applications to compete for the North Carolina Jaycee’s Outstanding Teenager Award. The winners of this award and an additional scholarship are announced in early summer at the Distinguished Service Awards Banquet in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

We would also like to congratulate our Outstanding Young Leaders that received a Distinguished Service Award during the NC Jaycee Mid Year Convention Weekend (Aug 3-5, 2018). The DSA awards honor individuals that make a difference in our communities across the state in various categories, including Outstanding Teenager. This year two of our 2018 Outstanding Young Leaders won the Outstanding Teenager award, each receiving a $1,000 scholarship to their university. Those award winners are Harrison Joel Peddle and Sarah Ruth Nicholls. Congratulations to those young leaders!
