Chili Cook-Off Benefit 2019

Jan 20, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

$10 – $12
The Chili Cook-off for the Boys and Girls home situated at Lake Waccamaw will be held on Sunday, January 20th, 2019 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.

The cost to enter the chili competition will be $10.00 per entry, which includes tasting. There will be four categories: Vegetarian, Spicy, Unique, and Best Overall! Guests will gather to taste and judge the chili for competition. For tasting attendees, the entry fee is $12.00, which includes tastings of all chili competition entries. In addition, there will be a bounce house and other family friendly activities to enjoy during the event. We will also have a 50/50 raffle.

Chili competitors must follow all Rules and Regulations as determined by the Winston-Salem Jaycees. Any questions about these can be sent to [email protected] or mturner@wsjaycees.

100% of the proceeds from the evening will be donated to the North Carolina Jaycees Girls Cottage at Lake Waccamaw. This cottage houses teenage girls who have been removed from their families for many reasons including poverty, death of their parents, or domestic violence. These young women may reside at the cottage for a short while during the time their family receives support or they may reside at the cottage until they turn 18 and enter the workforce or college.

All of the chapters of Jaycees in North Carolina contribute financially to assist this girls’ cottage all year long. Donations may be in the form of donated items such as sports equipment, school supplies, or other recreational equipment like computer software or music CDs. In addition, the North Carolina Jaycees donate over $30,000 to help the house pay for essentials including utilities, bedding, and kitchen supplies.

The Boys and Girls home was heavily impacted by Hurricane Florence and are in need of our help more than ever. In addition to the items they usually need, they will now be working to fix damage to the home.
